CAL International are sponsoring the All About STEM Liverpool City Region (LCR) ‘Make it Work’ Schools Robotics Challenge heat taking place in St. Helens. The event is co-supported by Steve Rotheram, LCR Metro Mayor, who will also be match funding the day. The robotics challenge is open to LCR secondary schools and will be a free of charge activity day which is part of a competition taking place across the wider city region for 6 months.
Over the course of the day, teams of four students from different schools will build and battle VEX robots in an exciting arena-style competition! Sessions will also showcase careers linked to manufacturing and engineering, highlight pathways into them and develop skills.
CAL CEO, Cliff Kirby commented: “Competitions such as this really do bring out some incredible ideas and innovation. It is brilliant to see how engineering ideas evolve in the minds of young people when faced with a series of problems to solve. This competition really will showcase the next generation of engineering talent.”
Technical Director Lee Fogg added: “We are incredibly proud of our apprentices and the journey they have been on to date. It is very important to CAL that we invest and stay close to the development of STEM across the UK and play our part. Wherever possible we endeavour to engage with workshops and training to ensure our experience is being passed forward to the Engineers of the future!”
