Why CAL specialise in Proactive Pre-emptive Maintenance.
The key to any type of maintenance is easy access to to cost effective spare parts and so the reverse engineering, technical documentation and production of key components is the fundamental building block of CALs Pre-emptive maintenance programme
Trends in maintenance have shifted over time but in general most experts would agree on the four main maintenance options
- Corrective Maintenance
- Preventitive Maintenance
- Risk Based Maintenance
- Condition Based Maintenance

Traditional Corrective Maintenance is being replaced by the other three more proactive options to ensure that downtime is minimised or preferably, eliminated. The CAL Design Innovation team works to an ‘uptime guarantee’ model that is supported by a clear maintenance framework to ensure all our solutions meet the product uptime promised in service level agreements (SLAs).
Preventative maintenance basically replaces key components at key milestones whilst the Risk and Condition Based models introduce a level of monitoring to fine tune the preventative maintenance timing. All these mathematical models rely on availability of the key components and so that is why reverse engineering, technical documentation and, if required, production of key components is the foundation of the holistic Pre-emptive Maintenance programme.
